NEWS END OF JANUARY 2016
SEE YOU SOON
Please be informed that I am planning a trip to Europe in a few months’ time. The aim behind this trip is to give me more time with friends and supporters in the UK. Also to enable me to attend a number of missions conferences / events in the UK and Germany.
God willing, my schedule will be as follows:
NCBC (Norwich Central Baptist Church): 1st and 2nd, then 6th to 18th May.
ABC (Andover Baptist Church): 20th to 29th May and 4th to 12th June.
Conferences: 3rd to 5th May, 19th May, 30th May to 3rd June.
Give thanks; that neither I, nor bike, nor apparently wheelbarrow were badly damaged by my recent ‘crash’ … It does not usually rain this time of year. Hence I went to a fellowship far from home that finished late. Even at Jim’s breakneck speed, it was almost an hour’s ride back. Approaching home, I saw the rain ahead, but had no choice but to ‘go for it’ if I was to be back before dark. In poor early evening visibility, I wanted to make sure a passing vehicle had enough passing room. It was raining hard, and hailstones were hitting my head and (funnily enough) making my bell ring. By the time I realised that someone had left a wheelbarrow on the road, I was about 3 yards away from it … my front mudguard threw the wheelbarrow sideways, in the process it took out a spoke from my rear wheel. I ground to a halt, rain still pummelling down onto me. A helpful passer-by came and bent my front mudguard back into shape. I had pushed the wheelbarrow onto the side of the road. I was able to ride the rest of the way home!
Visiting the sick in the Coptic hospital the other night a lady asked ‘how do I become a believer’. I was able to explain to her. Today I found a man sick for the first time in 70 years. There was a lady who has recurring problems with cancer. A young girl, probably just about 6 years old, being kept company by her mum. Two young people next to their sick sleeping dad. A girl in her late teens seemed to be lonely and frightened. … A worried lady said ‘I keep getting asthma and pneumonia’. Give thanks for opportunity to encourage these folks and more who are admitted to the hospital. Pray with us for the ministry to the sick at the Coptic hospital at Maseno.
