NEWS FOR END OF MARCH 2009
Amazing! Please read Colossians 1:24-29.24 Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church. 25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— 26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. 29 To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me. Colossians 1:24-29 (New International Version)
It is a special privilege in visiting churches in the UK, to go back to places with which I have had contact for anything from 18 to 33 years. This helps enormously in making conversation: I know a lot of the 'ancient history' of the churches that I am visiting! Thanks again to the many people inviting me into their homes, allowing me opportunity to share in their housegroups, etc.
Please pray for us in the Alliance for Vulnerable Mission as we are moving into a time of prayer and reflection, as we look for more guidance as to the 'way forward'. Is it to be more conferences, more efforts into publishing, networking, more stuff on the web with more visibility - all these kinds of options are on the debating table.
I plan to be at Norwich Central Baptist Church from Saturday for just over a week, then in Birmingham for a few days, then Durham, followed by Acomb Baptist Church in York. You are welcome to a 'fairwell' do for Jim at Andover Baptist Church on Saturday 18th April at 7.00pm (£5.00 for the meal). Let me know if you would like to come.
