End-Month News November 2025
Germany
As I write, I am two days from closing out from my time in Germany. Elders of my main supporting church here have been very helpful and accommodating. A trip to a mission agency with them helped them to better understand my situation. In addition to attending and speaking at events at this and other churches, I have also visited and caught up with a lot of relatives.
Myself and my brother Tim walking in the North Downs, the 13th November 2025.

End the Lies’
Truth can easily become the victim of power. This certainly seems to be happening today. Powerful people in today’s world want to believe certain things. Those things, to them, simply must be true. Actual truth gets trampled on. I do not consider some things that they want to believe to be true to be in their own long-term best interests. They are convenient things to believe that postpone problems to future generations.
I appeal, for the truth to be told about Africa. Then, following Africa, also about other parts of the world. These truths are often very evident to people who live in those parts of the world. They realise the steep gradient there is between life in the West and indigenous ways of surviving. Hence they are queued up waiting for boats to take them into Western Europe. At the same time, Europeans are falling over one another to deny their own superiority. This is a superiority which they should not claim, but for which they should credit God. Because they prefer not to believe in God, and are embarrassed by their superiority, their singular capabilities are simply denied. That’s not very helpful for those people around the world queueing up to come. Or queueing to go to schools and universities to spend many many years learning what the West knows. Or throwing out their own languages so as to use English. How then can the West claim to be ‘not superior’?

In short, although to deny being ‘superior’ seems to be an admirable act of humility, it may also be a vain or even proud refusal of the power of God. The coming of the world to being followers of Abraham can be read as a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy (Genesis 12:3). Paul’s letter to the Romans backs Old Testament declarations to this effect (Galatians 3:14). God desires people to come to faith in him through how his people live. Life with all the prosperity that the West has while not giving God the glory, is the crime of our generation. Western people have, I believe, a responsibility to the rest of the world. A very serious responsibility.
Mum
You will know, that I came back to the UK early so as to spend time with my mother. Mum was initially in hospital for 6 weeks, then in a nursing home for 6 weeks. She is now back in hospital and being evaluated as to the way forward. Mum had a stroke mid-August that resulted in Dementia. I am very very appreciative for my father, brother, and sister, for going on with care for mum in my absence. I am considering the possibility if need be to return home for extra visits to help to look after mum when needed.
Anticipated Activities
Once back in Kenya on 28th November, I hope to immediately re-engage my normal routine of visiting and speaking at indigenous churches on a regular basis. From 7th December I am to spend time with a missionary colleague for a few days of long-distance cycling. We are planning to go down to Lake Victoria and circle a few islands. 15th December we are to celebrate at ,y home with two children following their completion of their secondary education or equivalent. One-time children are to gather with us on 26th December. My next 2-week spell in Tanzania at the Bible college near Musoma will probably be in February. In the mean-time I anticipate being in engaged in some renovations of my home.
Amazing song
I was amazed, both by the lyrics and the tune of this praise song when most recently in Tanzania. Here is a Tanzanian couple praising God on you tube. Recommended listening!
Publishing
Please pray that I find a publisher for my latest booklet. This booklet, just 18,000 words long, is designed to assist people concerned for mission and the development of Africa. It is a concise summary of a lot of my academic articles.
Best wishes,
Jim
